Pearson Work At Home
If you’re happy in your marriage, would doing this be wise?
Married for 4 yrs. Have two kids (4 yr old, 1 yr old). Owns a 2 story detached home in Ontario. Both husband and wife work for the CBSA as Border Service Officers at Pearson Airport.
An opportunity has come up and CBSA is offering to send you to do training to better your career within the CBSA. The training duration is approximately 1 yr. However, the training base is located in Quebec.
The plan –> take this opportunity, move to Quebec, take both kids with you to live as a single parent (husband plans to stay back in Ontario and continue working at Pearson Airport), sell the house (husband will move in temporarily with a friend until wife’s training/placement is over).
How will going through with the above plan affect one’s marriage? And how will this move affect the children who will be taken away from their father and loving/supportive grandparents?
I know of married and seriously committed couples doing long distance for non-military reasons such as education or careers, but I don’t see how it’s an appropriate choice for someone who has young children. I personally would not willingly separate myself from my husband for any length of time for A JOB, and no way in hell would I do that if I had children.
